Expectations are high for Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets
The Colorado Rockies just wrapped up their 2021 season, and it was actually a season that went better than expected.
The sole focus for sports fans in Colorado is now on the Denver Broncos of the NFL, but that will soon be changing.
The Broncos will continue to be the biggest sports betting market throughout the state, but two other professional teams are set to begin regular season play later this month. The Colorado Avalanche of the NHL and the Denver Nuggets of the NBA are gearing up to begin, and both teams have some high expectations placed on them.
PointsBet Sportsbook has partnered with both the Avalanche and Nuggets and these two teams will be featured heavily on that site. Even though both teams won’t begin play for a little longer, the future odds are already out for each.
Avalanche Are Stanley Cup Favorites
This is now the second year in a row that the Colorado Avalanche are the preseason betting favorites to win the Stanley Cup. Colorado has continued to come up just a bit short in the playoffs, but this is a team that is loaded with top-tier talent.
At PointsBet Sportsbook in Colorado, the Avalanche are listed at +500 to win the Stanley Cup and +195 to win the Western Conference. There is plenty of randomnesses that happens in the sport of hockey, but it’s clear that this team is a top pick.
Colorado will once again be back in the Central Division this season, and they are the favorites to win that title at -250. The Central Division could be one of the toughest in hockey, but the Avalanche have a history of playing well in the regular season.
The Avalanche also have some players that are going to be considered for individual awards when the season is complete. Nathan MacKinnon has odds set at +600 to win the Hart Trophy, and Cale Makar is the favorite to win the Norris Trophy at +375.
Even though the NHL is not a popular betting market throughout the United States, it will see plenty of action at the sportsbooks in Colorado. Look for some big promotions offered by PointsBet in the days leading up to the season.
Can Nuggets Challenge in the West
The Denver Nuggets are expected to have another big season, but they are going to be dealing with a loaded Western Conference. Denver’s first priority is getting through a season fully healthy, but they could contend for a conference championship if that is accomplished.
The Nuggets are currently listed at +1000 to win the Western Conference, which is just the sixth-best odds at this time. The Los Angeles Lakers are the betting favorites at +195, and the Golden State Warriors are behind them at +550.
Nikola Jokic is the reigning MVP of the NBA, but his odds are set at just +1600 to repeat as the winner of that award. Luka Doncic is the betting favorite to be named NBA MVP this season, with odds set at +480.
