Struggling Nuggets Still Great Betting Option
The Denver Nuggets are just 4-5 through their first nine games of the 2020-21 season, but that hasn’t affected their betting odds much at the sportsbooks.
Denver was one of the top contenders to win the Western Conference to begin the season, and they are still a great betting option at this time.
Currently, the Utah Jazz are listed at +110 to win the Northwest Division, making them the betting favorite. The Nuggets are right behind them at +140, and this is a race that should last the entire season.
The Nuggets advanced to the Western Conference Finals a season ago, but they have been a one-man show for much of this season. Nikola Jokic has emerged as one of the top players in the NBA, but he will need some help if Denver is going to win the Northwest Division title.
The Portland Trail Blazers (+370) are the only other team in the division that could pose a threat to the Jazz and Nuggets. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder are going through rebuilding phases, and they are not expected to compete.
This is a great time to bet on the Nuggets, as you will likely get more value than you would later in the year. These odds will change almost daily, and one good run could cause the Nuggets to become the betting favorites.
A Threat in the West?
Winning the Northwest Division is the first goal for the Nuggets, but this team has much bigger dreams. The next step would be to win the Western Conference and advance to the NBA Finals.
Surprisingly, the Nuggets are actually the third-highest favorite to win the Western Conference, but they don’t have very good odds. Currently, the Nuggets are listed at +750 with DraftKings CO Sportsbook to win the Western Conference championship.
The Los Angeles Lakers (+130) and the LA Clippers (+290) are the two betting favorites to win the conference, and most believe they will eventually meet up in the conference finals.
Last season, the Nuggets eliminated the Clippers in the Western Conference semifinals before falling to the Lakers in the finals.
Milwaukee Rules The East
The Nuggets won’t have to worry about the Eastern Conference unless they reach the NBA Finals, but two teams have emerged in that conference. The Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets are clearly the favorites in the East, but there is still a long way to go.
Milwaukee currently has odds of +210 to win the Eastern Conference, and the Bucks are off to a hot start. The Bucks were the preseason favorites to win that conference, and they have backed that up with a strong start.
The Brooklyn Nets are listed at +240 to win the Eastern Conference, even though that team is off to a slow start. Both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have missed some time, but they are a tough team to deal with when they are both on the floor at the same time.
