Denver Nuggets Announce Next Year’s Schedule

Denver Nuggets 21-22 season

The Denver Nuggets have officially announced the 2021-22 regular-season schedule in conjunction with the NBA releasing the complete schedule for the entire league.

After two straight seasons have been ruined or altered by COVID-19, the league year will be back to normal in 2021-22.

The 2021-22 season will begin on October 20, and the opponent will be extremely familiar to the Nuggets. Denver will be in Phoenix on opening night for a matchup with the Western Conference champion Suns.

Just two days later, the Nuggets will return home to take on the San Antonio Spurs and Ball Arena. Ten of the first 16 games this upcoming season will be at home, and that could allow the Nuggets to get off to a great start.

The NBA is looking to limit travel for all teams this season, and that will create some strange quirks on the schedule. After Denver hosts 10 of the first 16 games, they then hit the road for 9 of the next 10.

The Nuggets will be in Denver for just four games during the month of December, and there are a pair of two tough stretches on the road. A seven-game road trip that begins at the end of November is the longest stretch of the season. There will be a lot of attention on the Nuggets again this season, especially after landing Aaron Gordon from Orlando.

January will be a month that is largely spent at home, and there are some big games on the schedule that month. The Nuggets host the Los Angeles Lakers on January 15 and the Utah Jazz on January 16.

Denver will host the Lakers again on April 10, and that will conclude the regular season. The Nuggets will finish with a flurry of home games, and that could give them a chance to make up some ground.

Denver spent a few years with no appearances on National Television, but they will have 14 such matchups this year. The Nuggets were not chosen to play in one of the five games on Christmas Day in 2021.

Altitude Sports and Entertainment will once again be the Television and radio home of the Denver Nuggets.

Grand Rapids Gold Have New Coach

The Grand Rapids Gold is the G League affiliate of the Denver Nuggets, and that team will have a new head coach for the upcoming season. NBA Champion and former Sixth Man of the Year, Jason Terry, has been selected as the new head coach.

Terry played in the NBA for 19 seasons and immediately went into coaching after he announced his retirement. He spent the previous season at the University of Arizona, his alma mater.

The G League doesn’t exactly work in the same way as the Minor League system in Major League Baseball, but there is still a strong affiliation with the Denver Nuggets. The hope is that Terry will be able to use his experience to get players ready to step up and help out the NBA team.

Terry has plenty of experience and knowledge of the G League as well after he was the assistant GM in Texas with the Legends in 2019.
